Test Strips
These are enlargements of test strips made from the works of my former students. Since they were created from paper prints, they simultaneously show the "front" and "back" of the "original" images, as well as the internal structure of the paper. Reduced to a flat surface, they reveal how a photograph can also be interpreted as an object. The test strips, as by-products of the enlargements, become independent images. On one hand, they carry the work of my former students and the experience and process of knowledge transfer; on the other hand, they are also symbols of chemical photography for me. What intrigued me most was their loss of function, as they become independent from the final, laboratory-produced images.
