Highlighting the inverse of the image is a post-photographic gesture, in which the support comes to the foreground. This directs attention to the materiality of the photograph and emphasizes the accidental or intentional marks on the verso. The visible stamps, dates, notes, stains, creases, adhesive traces, and other interventions become compositional elements and refer to the history of the photo-object, extending beyond the depicted image. Through the transformations of the photographic surface, it becomes a keeper of memories. Turning the verso is not only a physical but also a conceptual gesture: it reverses the direction of attention. This is an examination of the photographic medium itself.
